LAWRENCE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH has a long and proud history of providing outreach and support to our communities. We have included a partial list of our successful community projects.
Some of our most successful projects include:
- "Prayer Shawl Ministry" Shawls are knitted, crocheted, or quilted by members of the Prayer Shawl Team and the local community. Once the shawl is completed and given to the Prayer
Team, it is prayed over and blessed to be a comfort and blessing to its future recipient. The Prayer Shawl is a physical expression of our promise to pray for someone who is hurting. It
is a "hug" from God and our congregations.
- "Prayer Patches for Military" We send prayer patches to individual service members and entire units, those who are stateside and those deployed. This is a small reminder for them that
people are praying for them. They can carry this patch in a pocket of their vest or pants. We also send patches to the chaplains we support to be passed out as they visit individual
squads. We send prayer patches and shawls to the family members of our heroes as a reminder to them that people are praying for them as well as their loved ones.
- "Mobile Food Pantry" Working in partnership with Feeding America and United Christian Services, we help distribute a truck load of food provided by a grant from WalMart to 100 needy
families.
- "Home Rehab & Winterization" The Lawrence Township Board provides financial assistance to needy families for home rehabilitation and winterization. The Lawrence United Methodist
Church administers the program and provides the workmen necessary to complete the repairs.
